The Champaign Economic Partnership (CEP), with the help of local businesses, is spreading good economic, community and workforce development news – on 11 TV monitors placed around Champaign County.

The CEP started with a monitor placed in its own Monument Square office window. Ten more monitors have since been installed, one at each of the five Champaign County high schools and one each at Urbana University, Ohio Hi-Point Career Center, and in the windows of three downtown businesses in Champaign County’s three largest villages – at the Hive in Mechanicsburg, Champaign Realty in North Lewisburg and the Mercy Health medical clinic in St. Paris.

The purpose of the monitors, CEP Director Marcia Bailey said, is to inform students, county residents and visitors about economic and community development growth, local job opportunities, and education and workforce training. (See complete article Fall 2018 CEP Newsletter, CEPOhio.com.)

Videos Give Inside Look at Local Manufacturers

The CEP’s new business liaison, Ashley Cook,

KTH’s Recruitment initiative is actively seeking new graduates in the surrounding communities.

is providing students and others in the community an inside look at local manufacturing facilities and the career opportunities they offer.

She’s begun a series of videos that feature interviews with interns and employees and quick tours of the companies. “We’re using the videos so students and the younger generation can see what our local manufacturers make and what the facilities look like inside, “ Cook said. “They’re very clean, organized and high tech – not what many people may picture when they think manufacturing.” She adds, “A lot of students don’t know what products are made here and the jobs that are available.” (See complete article, Winter 2019 CEP Newsletter, CEPOhio.com.)
